No...I didn't....did I?

Yup....I did.

I, Sarah, the queen of all idiots, accidently reformated the memory card in our digital camera. This caused it to erase everything. This is the very same memory card that has all of our photos from the past 9 weeks, and the same memory card that I have never backed-up. Not even once. Everything is gone, and I am extremely upset. I know Mark is upset too, but he was very gracious about the whole situation. This couldn't have been easy in the face of my hysterical high-pitched squealing sobs. Again, he surprised me with his cool reaction, and I am extremely grateful for this. I know that if the situation had been reversed, I would be furious with him. Just as I am with myself right now.

I know that the loss of the photos is not a tragedy, especially with all the other stuff that is happening in the world right now...but I can't help it. I am a truly disapointed. How can pushing one wrong button cause such a huge mistake? (I have a few choice words for Canon company at the moment...and I won't be sending them a thank you card anytime soon). Unfortunately I can't go back in time and fix my mistake. I am part of a culture that is so used to capturing all of our memories so easily on film, and now have to relive them only in my mind. I guess that's not too bad, I mean it's the experience that counts right?

So here we are...all that remains are the photos that I have posted on the blog. (Please God...don't let Blogger crash before I get home and figure out how to get my photos saved onto a hard drive again.) And right now I am extremely grateful that I started this whole project.

Today we spent the day kayaking on Milford Sound...it was amazing. Yes, there are photos. However, since I still squeamish about pushing multiple buttons on my camera, I will leave them until my next update after Queenstown.

Thanks again for reading...it helps a bit to be able to vent. Love and miss you all,

Sarah

I did the same thing when we were in Dominican so I know how easily it is done
but from the emails it sounds like you are having a great time in NZ and I guess you will just have to go back - i wonder if there is a way to unformat those cards ......
