The Plan.....

Well....maybe not the plan, as that would require dates, budgets, itineraries, etc. So how about....the Idea.

It all started last summer (or even before that), in the midst of planning the wedding and trying to determine what type of honeymoon we would like. Originally, the idea was to visit Spain for three weeks, and then return to life as normal. All fine and good....but then Mark got greedy. Just kidding. :)

For months, he had been contemplating leaving his job in search of greener pastures, and since this would create an absence of client commitments, this would also offer an ideal window for an extended trip after the wedding. After hearing of all the adventures our friends have had travelling around the world, we thought "why not us?".

So here we are...the perfect storm....just married, Mark is unemployed, I have been granted a leave of absence from my job, Sean and Catherine have agreed to rent our condo, and our tickets are booked for three months of fun in Australia and New Zealand.



I have no idea what the next few months will bring, but I do know that regardless of what we see or do, we are extremely lucky to have the opportunity to go on this trip. I am aware that not everyone gets this chance, and countless couples have encouraged us to take advantage of this freedom while we have it....so here we go, off to the other side of the world with no goal but to explore what we haven't seen before and ready to take it as it comes. So in the end...that's enough of a plan for me.
